What you can expect from a therapist
If you have never been to therapy before, how would you know what to expect? Sometimes the scariest part of beginning therapy is getting over the hump of doing something new and different that you may not have experienced before. It can also feel weird to consider opening yourself up emotionally to a stranger, even if they are a "professional". I came across this graphic and thought it did a very good job of illustrating what a therapist is and is not. There are many myths out there about therapy and I thought this graphic helped to squash some of them. As a therapist, it is my duty to help you help yourself. It is key to my practice that I remind myself YOU are the expert on YOUR life. I work hard to be a guide and a fresh perspective so you can figure out how to live the best version of your life that you possibly can.
